MUNTANER

This interior design project takes place in a home on Carrer de Muntaner, one of Barcelona’s grandest thoroughfares, in an equally stately building with generous proportions, high ceilings and original architectural features that define its character.

From the outset, the intervention was approached as an exercise in respect and reinterpretation. The aim was not to transform the home, but to update it for a contemporary way of living while preserving the classic elegance that was already there. Moldings, millwork and large windows were kept and showcased, becoming the common thread of the project.

Reorganizing the spaces made it possible to open the kitchen to the living room, creating a spacious, bright and fluid shared area. The kitchen was conceived as a functional, serene space, with clean-lined cabinetry, a large central island and carefully considered lighting that supports both everyday use and gatherings. The dialogue between contemporary materials and the original wooden floor reinforces the sense of balance between past and present.

The original glass-paneled doors, restored and painted white, take center stage, visually connecting the spaces and allowing natural light to flow from one room to the next. They bring character, rhythm and an elegant transition between rooms, maintaining the stately identity of the apartment.

The color palette was built from warm, neutral tones, chosen to enhance the architecture and bring calm. Every decision, from the design of the custom furniture to the choice of lighting and textiles, follows the same principle: to create a sophisticated, functional and timeless home, where beauty is felt without ostentation.

The result is a home that breathes serenity and coherence, where the classic and the contemporary coexist naturally. A project that reflects Verónica Mimoun Studio’s approach to interior design: spaces designed to be lived in, respectful of their context and meticulously crafted down to the last detail.
